On PSY and the American Consumption of the Asian Male

At 150 Million views on YouTube, South Korean hip-hop artist PSY's song and music video for "Gangnam Style" has gone beyond viral. On statistics and hype alone, chances are you've heard of it as well.

Taking Yellow Peril Back

Yellow Peril is a term mainly used in the early-mid 20th century to refer to the movement of the Asian people into Western countries. This term came to express a fear of Asians as dangerous, non-human creatures taking over the workforce and destroying the "values" of Western culture.

Racism is rampant and thriving in America today, perpetuated in every false stereotype and ignorant assumption by the mainstream media and the misinformed.

The Asian American experience is nuanced in its complexity, and heavily affected by the racism endured over generations. In exploring my experience, I aim to be as transparent as possible about the racial politics I have faced within and outside of the Asian American community.
